30 days to Blue Ducks tryouts in April!

Tryout time moved back

Melbourne , Florida – A Brevard Blue Ducks team that relied heavily on local talent last year is looking to uncover more of that talent this season.

Led my Hall of Famer, Nate “Tiny” Archibald, the Blue Ducks went on to establish a club record for winning percentage in 2005. They are now looking to improve upon that mark in 2006.

“We proved we could take local basketball talent and field a competitive team playing against top-flight squads from around the country,” stated team owner, Mike Richman . “It was very gratifying to me personally to be able to give our local players an opportunity to play against top notch teams from other cities while also affording them an opportunity to establish pro careers and give them a chance to move on to other teams and leagues.”

The Ducks had scheduled games against members of the United States Basketball League ( USBL ), a minor league to the NBA, for three years, but played an independent schedule last season. It was so successful the team will follow the same strategy in 2006, working on broadening the spectrum of teams it brings in from other areas.

So Brevard County players who think they have what it takes to start a basketball career will get a legitimate shot at following their dream of playing pro basketball.

Tryout times have been moved back a couple of hours from the originally announced due to a scheduling conflict with the university. The tryout will now begin at 11:00AM and will run all day until approximately 7:00 PM. Registration and warm-up time will begin at 10:00 AM . The normal cost of $125 if registered and paid in advance or $150 at the door will be reduced by $25 for Brevard County residents ($100 if registered and paid in advance, $125 at the door). Checks will be accepted only if paid in advance.

For a tryout registration form or for more information, visit the Blue Ducks website at www.BrevardBlueDucks.com or call (321) 751-BLUE (2583). Registration forms are also available at the Clemente Center at Florida Tech. The tryouts are open to the public to watch.
