Blue Ducks set to play last two games of season

Team to end 2005 campaign with games Monday and Wednesday

Melbourne , FL – A season that almost never was, ends on a high note this coming week with two games and a Blue Ducks squad poised to break franchise records for winning percentage and attendance.

“It's been a wonderful season,” beamed Blue Ducks owner, Mike Richman . “From just being able to pull it off after the hurricanes last year, to landing Nate Archibald as our head coach to being able to include our community in a way we never were able to before. It's been a great season for us.”

The Ducks at 10-3 need to win one out of their last two games in order to break the franchise record for winning percentage (.667) achieved in the Ducks inaugural season of 2002, when the team finished 20-10 and won the USBL 's Eastern Conference championship.

Though slightly behind last year's pace, Richman says the team expects big crowds for its last two games. If that happens, the Blue Ducks could also set an all-time franchise record for attendance, which was set last season at 1080 per game.

“We need to average about 1300-1400 fans each of our last two games for us to break our record,” remarked Richman. “And believe me, we're going to do everything we can to do it.”

To do just that, the Blue Ducks are going all out on the promotion and entertainment front. For Monday's (7/18) game, they are hosting another Hometown News Night, featuring one of their most popular – if not most unusual giveaways – free classified ads to everyone attending the game, along with special Hometown News prizes which will be thrown out to the crowd throughout the evening.

“It's definitely the most unique promotion we ever had, but our fans really loved it the first time we did it,” exclaimed Richman. “The classified ad could be worth more than what our fan(s) paid for the ticket.”

It will also be Boy Scout Night, with all scouts in uniform invited to attend the game for half-price. “We're going to announce the Cub Scout packs and Boy Scout troops that are there and include some of the scouts in our on-court game activities,” added Richman.

Dance teams from local dance studio, Dance Mania will perform at half-time.

On Wednesday, July 20 th , the Blue Ducks host their last game of the season. Fans will be treated to live entertainment from the Danny Morris Band – a “Beach Boys” style trio that will perform all evening. It will be a beach-party theme that night, with fans attending receiving special giveaways and prizes – everything from pocket coolies, to Hawaiian lei's, to Ocean Potion suntan lotion to beach chairs. The giveaways will culminate in a drawing for the grand prize to the season-long Brevard Scooters Mini-Chopper Giveaway Sweepstakes, when one lucky fan will be named the winner of the custom red, white and blue mini chopper displayed at each Blue Ducks game this year.

“Every one knows about the mini chopper sweepstakes,” said Richman. “It's been our most visible promotion ever. Everyone's looking forward to the last game when we pick a winner. With all we've got going on, we're going to really blow it all out the last game this year.”

Both games tip off at 7:00PM at the Clemente Center in Melbourne . Tickets are available by calling (321) 751-BLUE or by visiting the website at www.BrevardBlueDucks.com . Tickets are also available at the box office which opens up an hour before tip-off.
