April 5, 2005 Blue Chick leaves the nest to volunteer in Peru Local dancers can try out April 10th for the 2005 Blue Chicks dance squad Melbourne, FL – As the Blue Chicks dance squad gets ready to add to their flock at their upcoming tryouts this Sunday, one member prepares not only for auditions, but to leave the nest. Volunteers are given individual placements based on their skills and interests, and work in community development projects with infants, children, teenagers, adults, and the elderly. Placements include building elementary schools, caring for infants, assisting doctors, and teaching English to children with no access to education. The only prerequisite is a desire to help others. It is that desire for teaching and helping others that has brought Nicole to the Blue Chicks organization and which now leads her to Peru . While still in Brevard however, Nicole is focused on making this Sunday's Blue Chicks tryouts a success for the Blue Ducks organization. “I've enjoyed my relationship with the Blue Ducks and absolutely love working with and dancing for, the Blue Chicks . This organization is all about community and I love that,” remarked Bronson. “Though I won't be here this summer, I'm really looking forward to the workshop and audition this Sunday and helping the Blue Chicks put together a really great dance team for this season.” Area dancers will have their chance to try out for the 2005 Blue Chicks dance squad as Nicole and co-captain Natalie Cox conduct a workshop, followed by an audition on Sunday April 10 th , at Harbor City Gymnastics in Melbourne . The dance workshop will take place from 10:00AM to 12:00PM . Registration is at 9:30 AM . The cost will for the workshop is $25 with advance registration, $30 at the door (sorry, no checks). The workshop fee includes the audition, which will be held immediately afterward. There will be an extra twist to the workshop and auditions this year: They will be videotaped and are planned to be shown on TV as part of a Blue Ducks highlight television show expected to begin airing this summer. Harbor City Gymnastics is located at 2882 Mariah Drive , just off Wickham Road , between Post and Pineda (1.2 miles north of Post, 1 mile south of Pineda. Look for “Live Oak” sign).
