USBL team travels to D.C. area for talent search
Melbourne, Florida - Serious basketball
players with professional aspirations now have another opportunity to

that they will be expanding their search for basketball talent by adding
an additional open tryout in Washington, D.C.
The D.C. area tryout will be held on Sunday, March 14th
at Bishop McNamara high school. This will be in addition to the open tryouts
the Blue Ducks are holding locally in Melbourne, on Sunday, March 21st
at the Clemente Center at Florida Tech.
Tryouts will run all day from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Registration
is at 8:15 AM. Cost will be $125 if registered and paid in advance, or
$150 at the door. Checks will be accepted only if paid in advance. Bishop
McNamara is located at 6800 Marlboro Pike, Forestville, MD.
"This is a real opportunity for basketball players
who want to play professional ball," said Derek Howard, Blue Ducks
director of player personnel. "We are serious about searching for
talent and bringing top players into our organization. That's why we're
expanding our search. The Washington D.C. area has long been a hotbed
for good basketball talent."
The Blue Ducks hold open tryouts each year prior to the
start of their season. The Ducks 2004 season begins April 16th. The top
performers in the open tryout camp will be invited back to the Blue Ducks
pre-season veterans camp on April 1st, where the team will make its final
cuts for its 2004 roster.
The Blue Ducks, who begin their third season at Florida
Tech in April, are a member of the United States Basketball League (USBL),
which serves as a minor league to the NBA. In its 18-year existence, over
140 players have graduated from the USBL to the NBA. Stars such as Avery
Johnson, Spud Webb, Monute Bol, Mugsy Bouges, Chris Childs, Anthony Mason
